In Tribute

There is message of sad news I want to pass along about another one of the early members of the Reasoner team. Mick McDonough (1972-1974), who was Operations Officer, died recently in Washington, D.C. after a four-year battle against colon cancer. Mick was an outstanding officer aboard Reasoner and continued in the Navy for about 30 years. He had command of USS Cushing and was later Commander, Destroyer Squadron 31. I and several other former Reasoner crewmembers attended his funeral and burial which took place at the Arlington National Cemetery on May 24, 2000. Mick was very well-known and highly respected in Reasoner, and was among those responsible for getting the ship off to its great start. Had I known about the existence of your website at the time, I would have put out the word for those who may have also wanted to attend the services.

Mick McDonough was one of the most outstanding persons I have ever known. We will miss him, but we will never forget him nor his contributions to his shipmates, the Reasoner, and the Navy.

(For those who knew Mick and would like to send a message to his widow, Marcie, her e-mail address is mickmars@starpower.net.)

Thanks again, Bill, for your work on the Reasoner website.
